Junior Press Officer (Fashion)

Reporting To

Fashion Press Officer

Role Purpose

To gain positive press coverage for House of Fraser with the focus on house brands and own bought branded product across all media, primarily in the long-lead consumer and national fashion press.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Proactively seek, react with pace to requests, maximise and act upon opportunities to gain coverage within target media for womenswear, menswear, childrenswear and fashion accessories.Network and liaise with journalists to develop good, on-going relationships between target media and House of Fraser.
  • Assist Press Officer / PR Manager with the organisation of the seasonal look books and press shows.Liaise closely with the Buying Departments to gain information on new launches and products.
  • Write press releases on new products and news worthy issues in line with seasonal PR strategy / HOF company values
  • Manage and develop the creative content of the press website
  • Liaise with key internal business contacts namely Buyers, eCommerce, Advertising, Marketing and Visual to ensure smooth and consistent channels of communication.Manage effective working relationships with key external business contacts namely Journalists and External Creatives (Photographers, Stylists).
  • Provide administrative and creative support to the Press Officer and PR Manager as required.

Other Duties

  • Participate in projects and carry out other duties that may be outside the standard remit in order to benefit the company. Manage to day to day responsibilities of the Fashion PR Coordinator.

Technical Skills & Experience Required

At least 1-2 years PR or Marketing related experience (preferably with a PR associated degree).
A passionate interest in PR and Fashion is essential.
Motivated individual – both personally and with the ability to motivate others.
Proactive in approach to solving problems.
Strong organisational skills.
High level of written and verbal skills.
Ability to establish and maintain networks of contacts both internally and externally.

Overview
The aim of the Press Office is to gain positive press coverage in newspapers, magazines, consumer online and trade publications as well as on television and radio. The role of Junior Press Officer is vital to the Press Office and is needed in order to actively achieve this aim.

The ideal candidate for this role should be enthusiastic, extremely well organised, with excellent communication, writing and computer skills. He/she will need to be self motivated, able to work under pressure and should be flexible. He/she will need to manage the PR Coordinator to ensure they are doing their job efficiently, competently and happily.
