STYLOKO LAUNCHES INTO THE US

Online shopping discovery destination Styloko has announced the news of its launch into the US on November 21. With around 30% of site traffic coming from North America, Styloko has taken the next step to internationalize its editorial content and offer prices in dollars. Featured brands on the site include ASOS, NET-A-PORTER.COM and Topshop, as well as American staples such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy's, which are also available on the UK site.

Maria Iorio and Raphaël Cuomo were announced as the winners of the 10th Premio Furla (Furla Art Award), this year titled The Nude Prize, in Milan yesterday, November 18. The winners were chosen by a panel of judges including Vanessa Beecroft as Chair, Teresa Gleadowe (Chair, Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham) and Barbara Hernandez (Director, SOMA, Mexico City). Prizes include the chance to create the proposed work underwritten by Fondazione Furla, the finished work being previewed in Venice at Fondazione Querini Stampalia in May 2015 during the 56th Venice Biennale, taking part in a retrospective dedicated to the Premio Furla next spring as well as in the next edition of miart, the international fair of contemporary art in Milan in April. Established to promote emerging Italian artists and bring awareness to the diverse channels of contemporary art developing throughout the country, Premio Furla is organised by Fondazione Furla (the Furla Foundation), an organisation founded in 2008 by Giovanna Furlanetto, President of Furla S.p.A. to support the luxury label's cultural initiatives.

AMERICAN RAG CIE TO OPEN STORES IN CHINA

Los Angeles-based retailer American Rag Cie has announced a license deal with The HUB, a group of Hong Kong and Shanghai-based fashion and retail specialists, to open 40 stores in Greater China over the next three years. The first store, scheduled to open the first half of 2015, will be a 6,000 square foot store over two levels in a prime location near Jinnan Temple in Shanghai, offering over 50 brands and designers from the USA, Europe, Japan and China. The store will aim to replicate the atmosphere, merchandising mix and service levels found in the original La Brea store, building its brand mix around the original concepts of denim and vintage mixed with contemporary fashion and sportswear through to homeware and accessories. The team is led by Peter Caplowe, who co-founded The HUB trade show in Hong Kong in 2013 with business partner Richard Hobbs.

ACTAVIS ACQUIRES ALLERGAN

Actavis and Allergan have entered into a definitive agreement in which Actavis will acquire Allergan for a combination of $129.22 in cash and 0.3683 Actavis shares. The transaction is valued at $66 billion, or $219 per Allergan share. The combination will create one of the top 10 global pharmaceutical companies by revenue, with a combined annual pro forma revenues anticipated for 2015. The combination company will be led by Brent Saunders, CEO and President of Actavis and Paul Bisaro will remain Executive Chairman of the board. Allergan is a healthcare company with a portfolio including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter consumer products and biologics. Actavis develops and manufactures, brand, branded generic, legacy brands and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products.

Privateer Holdings has announced the creation of Marley Natural, a joint venture with the Bob Marley estate. Marley Natural will offer premium cannabis products that honor the life and legacy of Bob Marley, as well as his belief in the benefits of cannabis. Where certain regulations permit, Marley Natural will offer heirloom Jamaican cannabis strains inspired by those Bob Marley enjoyed, plus cannabis and hemp-infused topical products including sun repair creams and lotions as well as accessories. The brand will officially launch in late 2015.

LVMH JOINS FOUNDATION FOR BIODIVERSITY RESEARCH BOARD OF DIRECTORS

LVMH has joined the board of directors of the Foundation for Biodiversity Research (Fondation pour la Recherche sur la Biodiversité (FRB)) in France. The foundation for scientific cooperation aims to promote national, European and international research on biodiversity, establishing close connections between various participants in the biodiversity sphere. This recognition follows the group's commitment to the National Strategy for Biodiversity, the French equivalent of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity for the planet 2011-2020, adopted by the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Nagoya. In October 2012, the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy awarded LVMH the status of recognised commitment to National Strategy for Biodiversity for its Improving, from upstream to downstream, LVMH's footprint on biodiversity project.
